Insurance - Effective July 1. 2007 Region Ten staff
salaried at 50% or more are eligible for their choice of three
Southern Health Insurance Plans.

Coverage
effective date is the first day of the month after you have
completed one FULL month of employment, i.e., if you begin
a paid position on December 1 your coverage begins January
1. If, however, you begin a paid position on December 14,
you must wait until February 1 to begin coverage. There is
NO ONGOING ENROLLMENT. If you decline at initial enrollment,
you may not apply again until the next Open Enrollment Period
for the agency.
Each
employee has the option of deducting their share of the premium
in tax-free dollars under Section 125 of the Internal Revenue
Tax Code.

Coverage is effective after a wait period of 3 full calendar months,
i.e., coverage begins on October 1 with hire date of
July 1.
VRS
A full-time Employee must participate in the Virginia Retirement
System (VRS). The employer contributes 5% of the employee’s
monthly gross wage into the system each month, effective July
1, 2001.
o The employee is eligible for VRS Life Insurance.
o The employee is eligible for Disability Coverage on the
VRS Life policy.
o Contributions begin the first month of employment.
SICK
LEAVE = 8.0 hrs. each month, there is no max or cap
on sick earnings
ANNUAL LEAVE = 8.00 hrs. each month, years 0-5, max = 120 hrs.
= 10.0 hrs. each month, years 5-10, max = 150.00 hrs.
= 12.00 hrs. each month, years 10-15, max = 180.00 hrs.
= 14.00 hrs each month, years 15-20, max = 210.00 hrs
= 16.00 hrs each month, years 20-25, max = 240.00 hrs
= 18.00 hrs each month, years 25 and on, max 270.00 hrs.
COMP
LEAVE = earnings max is 40.00 hours total
HOLIDAY
LEAVE = A Holiday is equal to 8.0 hours

LEAVE MAY NOT BE USED BEFORE IT IS EARNED.
