Worker's
Compensation is insurance that protects Region Ten employee's who
are injuried while performing the duties of their job. The guidelines
to follow are listed below.

for Injury/non exposure incident
1.
Notify supervisor immediately.
2.
Complete the workers comp packet and return to the Human Resource
Office within 24 hours of the injury. This is a packet of forms
with a blue cover sheet attached. Your supervisor should be able
to provide it form you. The packet includes Employer's First Report
of Accident; Region Ten Second Report of Injury or Illness; Region
Ten Incident Report; and the Worker's Comp Approved List of Doctors.
3.
You need to seek medical attention within 24 hours of injury to
qualify for Worker’s Compensation.

Guidlines
for Exposure Incident-
If
this is an incident involving blood borne pathogens, there is a
different packet for you to complete. It has a pink cover sheet
with these steps to follow:
1.
Staff and/or supervisor obtain appropriate forms from the Human
Resources office.
2.
Supervisor should call Occupational Health Services (OHS) at 951-4655
to inform them that the employee and the source client will be coming
in. Occupational Health Services is located at 337 15th St., SW
(second floor of Virginia Ambulatory Surgery Center), Charlottesville,
VA 22908. The employee must report within 24 hours of the exposure
incident. Hours at OHS are Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:30, except closed
from 12-1 on Thursday; Friday hours are 8:30-4:30. When OHS is not
open, the employee should be sent to UVA Emergency Room for testing
and then employee contact made with OHS as soon as possible on the
next open day.
3.
The staff and the driver of the source client should be given a
copy of the map and directions to the testing site. All source clients
should be tested at UVA emergency room. Any exceptions should be
addressed to the Director of Human Resources and Training. Client
test results will be mailed to the client. If follow up is desired,
the client should consult their Primary Care Physician.
4.
The employee should follow the protocol explained at Occupational
Health Services.
5.
The employee and/or supervisor must complete the following forms
and turn them into Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident:
Virginia
Workers Compensation Commission Employer’s First Report of
Accident
Region Ten Second Report of Injury or Accident
Region Ten Incident Report
6.
Employee follow up will be provided at Occupational Health Services.
7. All necessary positive tests will be reported to the Health Department
as required by law.
