Region Ten is thrilled that the commemorative float in honor of the agency’s 50th anniversary took first place in the amateur float category at Saturday’s Dogwood Festival Parade.

This year’s 50th anniversary float was pulled by the same Mustang that was used for Region Ten’s 25th Anniversary float in 1994, and was also constructed by Region Ten’s former Executive Director, Jim Peterson. The 25th Anniversary float also took first place in the amateur float category back in 1994. A number of Region Ten staff and consumers walked the parade route on Saturday, carrying signs and posters showcasing counties served by the agency, as well as services provided.

Region Ten’s goal is to support those with mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability concerns so that they may experience recovery within the fabric of their community. The agency served more than 9,000 people last year, and is the only service provider in the area that works with individuals and families with complex behavioral health and social needs by providing wraparound services. Region Ten serves the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson, and is pleased to be the first multi-jurisdictional Community Services Board in Virginia to celebrate 50 years of service.
