Program Description

Brief psychotherapy. Following a thorough diagnostic assessment, a treatment plan is developed by the client and clinician that addresses, in a confidential therapeutic outpatient setting, interpersonal, intra-psychic, and environmental stressors that have precipitated the request for professional assistance in resolution of current emotional distress. Depending on the treatment needs, individual and/or group psychotherapy is offered, usually in weekly sessions, that varies in intensity of treatment and frequency depending on the client's personal experience in distress, the impact on level of functioning, the severity of the diagnosis, and the ability to benefit from the service.

Population Served
This service is for individuals 18 years or older who have confirmed or suspected mental illness, personality disorders, thought process disorders, alcohol or substance abuse issues, and/or emotional pain or distress such as depression or anxiety which impaires functioning in major life areas.

Program Description

This class is a learning module organized on cognitive/behavioral principles based on three assumptions: violent/impulsive behavior is a learned reaction to stressful situations; persons who commit a violent/impulsive act are responsible for learning alternatives to their behavior; and violent/impulsive behavior can be reduced by learning strategies to cope with stress, maintain self control, and to improve communication with others.

Population Served
Adult indivdiuals who have had a significant disruption in his/her daily living patterns due to problems with anger management.

Program Description
This group provides support and a milieu for building relationships for women who tend to isolate and have significant problems with issues such as self-esteem, physical problems, depression, assertiveness, and relationships.  Consumers will be invited to attend 12 sessions.
Population Served
Group members must be capable of attending weekly and be willing to talk about an array of issues in their life leading to significant depression and/or anxiety.

Women's Discovery Group

Program Description
This group is designed to serve women diagnosed with mood disorders, including bipolar disorders, major depression and other depressive disorders, panic disorder and anxiety disorders. It offers supportive group psychotherapy with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral interventions and psycho-education. The goals are to enhance and improve each participants support system, coping skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and interpersonal effectiveness

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Group (DBT)

Program Description

This group is theoretically organized according to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Group members will be taught mindfulness skills as well as the skills explained in the three modules of DBT: Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation. Group format consists of a lecture to present cognitive/behavioral material and cover and review specific skills; paired with a homework section which reinforces specific skills through practice and will be reviewed and discussed in class. The information presented is cumulative and consistent attendance is required.   

The group is for 8 sessions and is open to both men and women. Time and day of the lecture may be changed to address the needs of the group.

Population Served

Consumers who have significant disruption in daily living patterns due to depression, anxiety, problems with impulse control issues, and/or cluster B diagnoses or personality traits.

Consumers will be interviewed by group leader to determine if the consumers’ needs are consistent with group guidelines.
