A
treatment group for adult men who are identified
as being chemically dependent. The group meets
two days a week. The program is 12 weeks long though most consumers
take a bit longer to complete it as they must
attend 24 sessions, not just 12 calendar weeks.
This group is usually a follow-up from
the Intensive Outpatient Program. It is possible a person may be placed in this
group without having attended or successfully
completed the Intensive Outpatient Program, but
such a situation will need to be carefully assessed.
Participants
need to demonstrate that they can maintain sobriety
for a period of time (not determined, may vary
from consumer to consumer) and can be successful
in a reduced outpatient intensity. Relapses must be processed in group. Continued
relapse may indicate a need for a higher level
of treatment such as Inpatient or an Intensive
Outpatient Program.
