Program Description

A substance addiction/abuse treatment group for adult men who are referred by James River VASAP for more than one DUI offenses.  The group meets one day a week.  The program is 10 weeks long though most consumers take a bit longer to complete as they must complete ten groups and therefore missed groups do not count towards their ten weeks.

The consumers need to demonstrate that they can maintain sobriety for a period of time (varies from consumer to consumer) and can be successful in a once a week outpatient program.  Relapses must be processed in group. Continued relapse may indicate a need for a higher level of treatment such as Inpatient or an Intensive Outpatient Program.

Group Meets Monday 6:00-7:30 pm, Tuesday 6:00-7:30 pm or Wednesday 4:30-6:00 pm.

Population Served

Program Description

A treatment group for adult men who are identified as being chemically dependent. The group meets two days a week.  The program is 12 weeks long though most consumers take a bit longer to complete it as they must attend 24 sessions, not just 12 calendar weeks.  This group is usually a follow-up from the Intensive Outpatient Program.  It is possible a person may be placed in this group without having attended or successfully completed the Intensive Outpatient Program, but such a situation will need to be carefully assessed.

Participants need to demonstrate that they can maintain sobriety for a period of time (not determined, may vary from consumer to consumer) and can be successful in a reduced outpatient intensity.  Relapses must be processed in group. Continued relapse may indicate a need for a higher level of treatment such as Inpatient or an Intensive Outpatient Program.

Participants need to demonstrate that they can maintain sobriety for a period of time (may vary from consumer to consumer) and can be successful in a once a week outpatient program. Relapses must be processed in group. Continued relapse may indicate a need for a higher level of treatment such as Inpatient or an Intensive Outpatient Program.
