Description |
These are outpatient-based services designed to evaluate and treat mental health and/or substance abuse disorders in persons age 5 through 18 years of age. Specific services include:

Served |
These services are available for individuals 5 years to 18 years of age who have a mental health and/or substance use disorder diagnosis and have impairment(s) in social, vocational, academic or family functioning related to the disorder(s). These services are also provided to youth detained at the Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center.

Description |
| Community
and school based services designed to educate, inform,
and prevent children and adolescents from engaging
in risk-taking behaviors that include, but are not
limited to, substance use, violence, teen pregnancy,
and high school drop-out.
The overall goal is to enhance resiliency
and minimize the impact of any risk factors that
may limit the functioning of persons age 5 through
18 years of age.
Specific services include:classroom presentations,
small group psych-education, community in-services,
development and mentoring of youth organizations,
and parent meetings. |

Served |
Individuals
aged 5 to 18 years who live in Region Ten's service
area and are members of or attend an institution
that has a contract with Prevention Services.
Participants
should have a willingness, ability, and capacity
to benefit from the psycho-educational group process
and desire or willingness to participate in a
community based organization. |

| Program
Description |
| The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a universal and selective multi-component, family-focused prevention program that provides support for families with 6-11 year olds. The program is 14 weeks. SFP has three components: a behavioral parent training program, a children's skills training program, and family skills training program. Primary outcomes include reduced family conflict, aggressiveness and substance abuse, as well as improved youth social skills, parenting skills, and family communication and organization. The program is free of charge to participants. Childcare and transporation is also offered free of charge to those in need. The program will be offered in Spanish on Tuesday evenings at Agnor-Hurt Elementary School and in English on Thursday evenings at Woodbrook Elementary School late August - December, 2007. |
