Description |
The
Infant & Toddler Connection of the Blue
Ridge provides services and supports to infant
and toddlers who have developmental delays
and disabilities. Services are provided in
the child’s natural environment, typically
home or daycare, in all of planning district
10. Families who have concerns about their
child’s development can receive free
developmental screenings and evaluations from
the Infant & Toddler Connection of the
Blue Ridge. Support services to be provided
are identified based on the family’s
concerns. They might include physical therapy,
speech therapy, education services, hearing
aids, nutrition consults, or counseling services.
The focus of early intervention is to teach
parents how to facilitate their children’s
development through everyday activities. Early
intervention provides education and support
to parents, with the understanding that parents
are the primary teachers of their children.
Services are provided through private therapy
companies as well as public agencies, such
as the community services board (see Step-by
Step). |
