The Dual Recovery Center (DRC) follows an integrated dual disorders treatment approach to serve individuals in Charlottesville and surrounding area who have serious mental illnesses and substance use problems. We are a multidisciplinary, community-based treatment team including psychiatry, case management, mental health skill building, psychosocial rehabilitative day program, and outpatient therapy.

The DRC assists persons with successful community living and reducing hospitalization needs. Our team has a dedicated case manager, MHSS providers and outpatient clinician.

Our day program operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 1:30 pm with a daily four hour expectation. The day program increases interpersonal skills and develops coping skills needed for establishing and maintaining recovery. Program structure involves lecture, workshop/discussion, and experiential interventions to assist individuals in establishing and maintaining stability, reducing relapse and hospitalizations, and identifying goals for wholeness.

Eligible individuals must be at least 18 years old with both a serious mental illness and difficulty with substance use. To qualify for MHSS individuals must also have had at least one psychiatric hospitalization and demonstrate a clinical need for the service arising from serious mental illness that results in significant functional impairment in major life activities.

Full payment is required. Sources of payment included Discharge Assistance Planning funds, Medicaid and self-pay. Please call 434-972-1800 for intake appointment to agency.
