Strengthening Families Program (SFP) supports families with children ages 3 to 11 by offering two curriculums: one for families and children ages 3-5 and another for families with children ages 6-11. The program has three components: behavioral parent training, children’s skills training and family skills training. SFP has been shown to reduce family conflict, aggressiveness and substance abuse. The aim is to improve children social skills, parenting skills and family communication and organization.
Two new groups will begin for families with children ages 3-5 and 6-11 in English and families with children 6-11 in Spanish both on September 2014. Another group will be offered in March 2015. Individuals served: children 3 to 11 and their parents. This program operates in the evenings during cohort time frames of either 10 weeks for the 3-5 and 6-10 age groups. The program is free and includes childcare and transportation as needed.
