Region Ten Staff Profile: Jnauiree Wilson

Every month Region Ten provides a profile of our staff members during commemorative months so that the community has a sense of the unique backgrounds and stories our staff bring to the people we serve.

Name and Position at Region Ten: Jnauiree Wilson, M.S. LPC-R, Child & Family Outpatient Clinician.

Where are you from? Charlottesville, Virginia.

What drew you to the behavioral health field? I was drawn to the mental health field after taking my first Introduction to Psychology course during my first semester of college. I enjoyed learning about why individuals behave the way they do. I found it fascinating to learn about contributing factors such as neuroscience, environmental factors, and personality traits. By my junior year of undergrad, I knew I wanted to be a counselor and guide individuals in finding solutions to life stressors.

What are some of the highlights over your professional career? I’ve spent most of my professional career working with children and families. My greatest fulfillment comes from creating safe connections with complex and challenging families and watching them grow and evolve into better versions of themselves by utilizing the resources they’ve been given.

What do you enjoy about your work at Region Ten? I enjoy working at Region Ten because it allows me to give back to the community where I grew up. I love providing services to the schools and organizations I was part of during childhood; it feels like a full-circle moment. I also love working at Region Ten because it offers many learning opportunities to strengthen my clinical skills and help many families with various concerns and situations. Region Ten has helped me reach and exceed my professional career goals. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge the Child & Family team for always being supportive, empowering, and encouraging.

What does Black History Month mean to you? Black History Month is a time to celebrate black culture and excellence and honor past achievements. I celebrate this month by continuing to learn about black history, attending black community social events, advocating for the black families I serve, and reflecting on how, as a black woman, I can continue shaping and serving my community.
