Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Workshop
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the most widely used intervention skills workshop in the U.S. The two-day intensive and practice-dominated course is designed to help give caregivers:
- Recognize the risk for suicide
- Intervene to prevent immediate harm
- Create a “safety for now” plan
- Link persons with thoughts of suicide to appropriate help and community resources.
WHO: ASIST is often used by professionals in a variety of school, mental health, justice, medical, clergy, or other community “front line” positions. It is for all caregivers, regardless of the age group served. It is also appropriate for friends or family members who are interested in learning skills to help their loved ones at risk of suicide.
