An event every week that begins at 4:15pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, happening 10 times

Rise Above is a new program for young people between the ages of 10-14, and will meet virtually twice a week starting January 12, 2021. The program will run for 10 consecutive weeks and virtual meeting times will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:15-5:15 pm. Rise Above is a Trauma-Informed, Social-Emotional Learning and Substance Use Prevention Program through Virginia Commonwealth University. The program utilizes social-emotional learning, in efforts to help youth cultivate life skills to help them overcome and thrive. Rise Above helps teens:

    • Develop healthy coping skills to understand and manage their thoughts and feelings
    • ​Enhance life skills and adaptive self-control
    • ​Promote healthy relationships, effective communication skills, and mutual respect
    • ​Learn the skills and values needed to cultivate a drug-free life
